The 10 Best Outdoor Dog Beds Reviewed:
1. SUPERJARE Outdoor Dog Bed – Best Overall
The SUPERJARE Outdoor Dog Bed is our pick for the best overall outdoor dog bed. This bed measures 4-feet by 3-feet and can hold a dog up to 120 pounds, and there is plenty of room for most pets. It stands nine inches above the ground, so there is plenty of clearance. There’s also a large canopy that goes over it to keep shade on your pet.
We found it easy to assemble, and it’s lightweight, so you won’t mind carrying it. The bed itself is a durable, high-quality fabric and will last, but the canopy leaves a little to be desired. It’s thin and won’t last long, especially if it sits in the sun for long periods. The entrance holes in the canopy are also small and hard to get in and out of with the canopy attached. However, we still think that this is the best outdoor dog bed.
- 4-foot X 3-foot
- 9 inches off the ground
- Covered
- Holds up to 120 pounds
- Low-quality canopy
2. Coolaroo Elevated Dog Bed – Best Value
The Coolaroo 434403 Elevated Pet Bed is our pick for the best value. We believe this low-cost outdoor dog bed is the best outdoor dog bed for the money. This brand is lightweight and easy to clean. It’s mold and mildew resistant, as well as flea- and tick-resistant. It’s available in multiple colors and stands 8 inches above the ground.
One drawback of this model is its slightly small size. It’s only a little over two feet wide and three feet long, so larger dogs might feel cramped. There is also no canopy to provide shade for your pet, so you will need to supply shade or use this elevated pet bed indoors.
- Low-cost
- Mold and Mildew resistant
- Lightweight
- Easy to clean
- Smaller size
- No canopy

3. PetFusion Ultimate Dog Bed – Premium Choice
The PetFusion PF-IBL1 Ultimate Dog Bed is our premium choice outdoor dog bed. This bed is expensive, but it has some high-end features that make it an excellent choice for your pet. It features a 4-inch memory foam padded bed that is both water-resistant and tear-resistant. This bed also features a removable cotton and polyester cover that is machine washable. There are also stuffed bolster pillows around the perimeter of the bed.
What we didn’t like about this bed is its incredibly high cost, and the bolster pillows around the perimeter of the bed are not removable, so they are hard to clean. This bed is also not the type to leave outdoors for extended periods.
- 4-inch thick memory foam
- Water and tear-resistant
- Removable cover for cleaning
- Expensive
- Bolster pillows are not washable
4. K&H PET Outdoor Dog Cot Bed
The K&H PET PRODUCTS 1626 Original Pet Cot is a large-sized outdoor dog bed. This bed features a removable and washable cover, and the fabric is waterproof. We found this bed easy to assemble, and it’s extremely sturdy, able to hold up to 150 pounds.
What we didn’t like about this brand is that the pad can wear out quickly if you have very active dogs or ones with sharp nails. There is no canopy, so you will need to look for a shady area if you intend to use it outdoors, and there’s a problem with the plastic feet covers. At the ends of the metal legs, there is a plastic foot cap. These caps are fragile, and if your dogs are heavy and use it a lot, those metal legs can puncture through the cap and scratch your floor. If you use this brand indoors, we recommend using coasters or some other type of extra protection around the feet.
- Large size
- Waterproof
- Easy assembly
- Washable cover
- Pad wears out quickly
- Plastic foot cap
- No canopy

5. Veehoo Outdoor Elevated Dog Bed
The Veehoo Elevated Dog Bed is capable of holding up to 150 pounds on its sturdy steel frame. Set-up is easy, and the assembly is tool-free. Once assembled, the outdoor bed is lightweight and easy to carry.
What we didn’t like about this outdoor bed was primarily the Velcro connections. These connections are tight and difficult to connect to the frame, and our dogs loved to chew on them. If you have an overactive dog, you will need to watch them while using this bed. We also noticed that the color fades in the sunlight, and there’s no canopy to supply shade for your pet on hot sunny days.
- Holds 150 pounds
- Tool-free assembly
- Lightweight
- No canopy
- Color fades in sunlight
- Velcro connections
6. Petsure Outdoor Elevated Dog Beds
The Petsure Outdoor Elevated Dog Bed is a large three-foot by two-foot bed that keeps your pet 8 inches off the ground for plenty of clearance over rocks or wet grass. The Textilene fabric is easy to clean by simply hosing it off, and the powder-coated steel frame won’t rust.
While we reviewed this outdoor dog bed, we noticed that the mesh fabric wasn’t very durable, and our dogs quickly put holes in it. If you have smaller dogs, this probably makes an excellent spacious bed for them to rest, but bigger dogs will ruin it quickly.
- 8-inches above ground
- Easy to clean
- Only for small dogs
- Not very durable
7. Pet Craft Supply Water Resistant Dog Bed
The Pet Craft Supply 8812 is a machine washable indoor/outdoor dog bed. This bed features thick four-inch padding to help keep your pet off the cold hard floor, and the cover is waterproof, which allows for easy cleanup.
The downside is that many dogs might take to chewing on this type of bed, and if they do, it won’t last long. It’s also kind of stiff and not soft and comfy. Our last complaint about this brand is that the cover doesn’t come off. You can put the entire bed in the washer but not just the cover.
- Water-resistant
- Machine washable
- 4-inch thick padding
- Easily chewed
- Can’t remove the cover
- Stiff
8. EMME Padded Pet Bed
The EMME Padded Pet Bed is a machine washable bed that is available in several different sizes to suit your dog. It’s machine washable and features a breathable material designed to increase airflow around your pet. It’s for indoor and outdoor use, and the cover is a sturdy, thick mesh fabric with double reinforced seams.
We didn’t have any issues with the durability of this bed, but it doesn’t provide much padding at all. The central part is extremely thin, and the sides don’t stand up to create pillows.
- Machine washable
- Breathable Material
- Comes in several sizes
- Thin
- Hardly any cushion
- Sides don’t stand up
9. Majestic Outdoor Round Pet Bed
The Majestic 78899551015 Outdoor Round Pet Bed is a large round bed that sort-of resembles a bean bag but filled with polyester stuffing and is soft. It has a sturdy polyester cover that can handle plenty of abuse, and it’s removable so you can wash it.
One of the things we didn’t like about this outdoor dog bed is the same thing we might like if it were an indoor bed. This brand has a waterproof bottom, but a water-resistant top. If this were an indoor bed and your pet had an accident, and some leaked into the bed, the bottom would keep it from getting on your floor. Outside, dew and rain inevitably get into the bed where the bottom holds them and results in water sloshing around inside the bed. The other thing we didn’t like is that it flattens out pretty quickly, especially with larger dogs, and doesn’t provide much cushioning after that.
- Tough polyester cover
- Removable cover
- Flattens out quickly
- Holds water

10. Cheerhunting Outdoor Dog Bed
The Cheerhunting Outdoor Dog Bed is the last brand of outdoor dog beds on our list. This brand uses high-quality Oxford material that seems very durable. The cover comes off and is washable, and the inner mattress filling is 100% cotton.
We didn’t think this bed had much in the way of padding. It’s very thin and does not provide much comfort on hard ground, especially if you have a larger dog. We also have a chewer dog and he was able to tear holes in the mattress at the seams.
- High-quality Oxford material
- Washable cover
- Cotton stuffing
- Minimal padding
- Weak seams
Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose the Best Outdoor Dog Beds
Let’s take a look at some of the things that might be important factors in the best outdoor dog bed that you should consider before you make your next purchase.
On Ground or Off Ground
Dog beds fall into one of two categories, on the ground and off the ground.
On Ground
On ground dog beds often look like a giant pillow, bean bag, or mattress. This type of bed is usually stuffed with a poly-plastic type stuffing and covered in a thick, durable fabric. They come in all shapes and sizes and are placed directly on the floor or ground. This type of bed is for indoors or outdoors.
The downside to using this bed outdoors is that it can collect and hold water, which can lead to mold and mildew. If you accidentally place it on a sharp rock, it could damage the bed.
Off Ground
Off ground dog beds are the type that has a metal frame with a thin but durable fabric pulled tight across the top. These beds generally stand six or more inches off the ground giving your pet a cushion of air. Your pet will be clear of rocks, water, and other debris. This type of bed often comes in several sizes so you can purchase one that will fit your pet.
The downside to these beds is the thin tight fabric often wears out quickly due to your pet’s weight and sharp nails.
Fabric
No matter what style of bed you get, the quality of the material is going to be at the top of the list of essential things to look at before you buy. For beds that go on the ground, you need a thick waterproof material that won’t hold water. Off ground beds will need to be durable enough to support your pet’s weight. Both beds will need a fabric that is resistant to mold and mildew, as well as ultraviolet rays.
Frame
When using off ground beds, the quality of the metal frame is a critical concern. Outdoor dog beds that don’t have a high-quality frame can buckle under the weight of your pet. Improperly designed frames can also rust, and the feet can scratch many surfaces.
Conclusion:
Hopefully, after reading over our reviews and our buyer’s guide, you know more about what you want and are closer to a final decision. We highly recommend the SUPERJARE Outdoor Dog Bed, which is our choice for the best overall outdoor dog bed. This large off ground bed is covered and very durable. It can hold up to 120 pounds 9 inches above the ground. The Coolaroo 434403 Elevated Pet Bed is our pick for the best value outdoor dog bed and it’s almost as good as our top choice without the canopy.
No matter which brand of outdoor dog bed you choose, we hope that these reviews and buyer’s guide have been helpful. We truly hope that you find the best outdoor dog bed for your furry friend! Please share this guide to outdoor dog beds on Facebook and Twitter.
