One of the biggest downsides to owning a dog is dealing with the mountains of hair that get all over your home — and worse, many dogs hate being brushed, which makes it difficult to fix the problem.
A grooming glove would seem to be a natural solution, as they allow you to remove some of that excess fur simply by petting your dog — that’s a win/win, right? Unfortunately, many of the gloves out there are basically useless, as they do a poor job of getting rid of fur while also making the pats less enjoyable for your dog.
To find an option that you and your pooch will love, we looked at some of the top grooming gloves on the market. In the reviews below, we’ll show you which ones will keep your house clean and your dog happy — and which ones are better left on the shelf.

The 10 Best Dog Grooming Gloves
1. DELOMO Grooming Glove – Best Overall
The silicone tips on the DELOMO 002 are soft and pliable, which gives your dog a nice, reassuring massage with every swipe. Despite their forgiving construction, they still manage to snag an impressive amount of fur with every pass.
There are two gloves per order, and each mitt is one-size-fits-all. This allows you to slip them on in a flash, which can be helpful if your dog is still skittish about being groomed.
The gloves give you a remarkably natural range of motion, so you won’t feel like you’re wearing a plastic cage over your hands. This lets you dig into hard-to-reach places, like around the tail or armpits.
If there’s one thing we’d improve on the DELOMO 002, it’s that hair is difficult to remove from the gloves themselves. This can slow you down, but it’s also an indication of just how much fur the gloves remove. As long as you’re willing to tolerate that minor quibble, you’ll be hard-pressed to find more effective gloves, which is why they’re our top pick.
- Soft, pliable silicone tips
- Remove lots of hair
- One-size-fits-all construction
- Easy to put on in a hurry
- Get in hard-to-reach places well
- Difficult to remove fur from gloves themselves
2. Pet Thunder Pet Grooming Glove – Best Value
The Pet Thunder GBG001-1 looks like an oven mitt with spikes, and its large size enables you to cover wide swaths of fur in a single stroke. That’s good for dogs that don’t care for being groomed because at least it gets the whole process finished quickly.
It’s equally suitable for use on wet fur, making it a useful addition to your pup’s next bath. The removal process is gentle even if the hair is matted or tangled.
While there’s a strap on the wrist to help the glove conform to your hand, it can only do so much, and the glove slips a lot. There’s also a limited amount of “brush” real estate, and what’s there fills up rapidly, so you’ll have to frequently empty it. However, that process is quick and painless.
Overall, the Pet Thunder GBG001-1 isn’t quite as good as the DELOMO, but it’s also a fraction of the DELOMO’s price. As a result, it’s not quite enough to earn the top spot, but it certainly qualifies as the best dog grooming glove for the money.
- Large size speeds up grooming process
- Works well on wet fur
- Gentle on mats and tangles
- Easy to remove hair
- Good value for the price
- Slides around a lot
- Fills up with hair quickly
3. H HANDSON Pet Grooming Gloves – Premium Choice
The H HANDSON are available in a variety of sleek designs, making them an attractive addition to any pet bag, and they’re an especially smart choice for those who show their dogs competitively.
As such, they might be a bit of overkill for the average pet owner (especially given their price), but if you’re willing to pay extra, they’re worth the investment. The rubber nodules give your pooch a gentle massage, helping to stimulate blood flow and redistribute natural oils, keeping his coat shiny and lustrous.
One little bonus you’ll find with the H HANDSON is the ability to just toss them in the washing machine when they get dirty. Grooming gloves can get pretty nasty if used over and over, so the ability to effortlessly clean them is a nice touch.
Other than the price, the biggest issue with these gloves is the difficulty of finding a suitable size. The smaller sizes are really small, while the larger sizes can dwarf some hands, so it may take some trial-and-error to find a pair that fits. Once you do, though, you’ll definitely understand why these mitts ranked so highly on this list.
- Rubber nodules provide gentle massage
- Available in multiple colors
- Can be machine-washed
- Redistribute skin’s natural oils
- Good for competitive show dogs
- Pricier than other models
- Difficult to find suitable size
4. True Touch Grooming Glove
There are 180 soft silicone nodules on each True Touch glove, so you can be sure to snag every loose hair possible. The tips are long enough to dig down deep into the coat, dislodging any stubborn bits of fur along the way.
However, while these gloves are excellent for loosening up clumps of hair, they struggle a bit to actually get it off your dog. You may need to go back over him with a regular brush after using these, but if you do, that second brushing should be much more effective than it usually is. Either way, expect to need to vacuum after you’re done grooming.
The mitts themselves are fairly flexible, which allows you to use your hands normally. This makes the petting motion much more natural, and as a result, your dog is less likely to balk at getting brushed.
As a nice bonus, True Touch includes a lint roller with each order. This comes in handy since so much hair is left sitting on top of your dog’s coat.
- Lots of silicone nodules on gloves
- Tips dig deep into coat
- Good for dislodging stubborn hair
- Mitts are very flexible
- Lint roller included
- Leaves fur sitting on top of coat
- Will need to vacuum after use
5. Furbuster 3-in-1 Grooming Glove
The Furbuster 3-in-1 makes no attempt to look like a regular glove; instead, it resembles the large grooming mitts you’ll often see used on horses and livestock.
The good thing about that is it allows you to do the job quickly and efficiently, but the downside is it doesn’t feel as good for your dog. As a result, you may have to deal with more squirming than you would with some of the more “realistic-feeling” models above.
Where the Furbuster excels is when it’s used while bathing. It has a mesh exterior that lets water flow through it easily, and it gently removes wet clumps of dead hair. It’s not quite as effective when used dry, however, so you might only find occasional use for it.
They make a separate model that’s intended for cats, but you’ll likely find that the larger one works just as well for felines (not to mention small dogs). Regardless of which one you use, you’re going to have to hurry, as your pet isn’t likely to sit there for long.
- Covers lots of ground
- Great for use during baths
- Also works on cats
- Mesh exterior lets water drain
- Not as comfortable for the animal
- Doesn’t work as well on dry fur
- May encourage squirming
6. Pet Magasin Grooming Gloves
The Pet Magasin gloves were designed for use on virtually all pets, including cats, horses, and more. As a result, they end up being not as good as some other models that were solely intended for use on canines.
Made of thick polyester, they can shield your hands from scratches and nips if your pup suddenly decides he’s had enough grooming for one day. The long nodules can really penetrate through thick coats, helping to dislodge dirt and dander.
However, once all that dirt and hair is dislodged, it just goes…everywhere. The gloves trap very little fur, letting it get all over you and the surrounding area. As a result, they’re hardly suitable for indoor use.
The thick material also makes them incredibly hot, so you may not want to use them in the summer. The flip side of that, of course, is that they’re great for icy winter days, so it may be worth keeping a pair for those months alone.
- Thick polyester protects hands
- Rubber nodules penetrate thick coats
- Ideal for winter use
- Allow hair to get everywhere
- Get hot during summer months
- Not ideal for indoor use
7. BISSELL De-Shedding Grooming Gloves
Animals seem to love the BISSELL 2577X, as both dogs and cats alike will beg to be petted while you’re wearing them. Unfortunately, they’re not as good for actually removing hair.
The problem is that the nodules are very short, so they only remove the fur that’s closest to the surface. If you have a dog with an especially thick coat, much of the undercoat will be left untouched. They tend to just glance over thick mats and tangles as well.
If you have a shorter-coated dog, though, they might be enough to get the job done, but even still you’ll likely have to work very hard to make a dent.
One thing the BISSELLs are good for, however, is introducing your dog to the grooming process. Since he’ll likely enjoy it when you use these, you can use them to get him acclimated to being brushed before switching to one of the more effective mitts shown above.
- Help dogs enjoy being brushed
- Good for shorter-haired breeds
- Great for introducing pet to grooming
- Only remove hair from surface of coat
- Struggle with mats and tangles
- Not ideal for thick-coated dogs
8. PetFusion Multipurpose Pet Glove
The PetFusion PF-HG2 are “multipurpose” gloves, which means they’re designed for more than just grooming. While that versatility may make it worth keeping them around for other reasons, they’re simply not as good for brushing as some other models.
Available in only two sizes, these are extremely long gloves, like welder’s mitts. That protects much of your forearm as well as your hands, which comes in handy if you have to deal with a hostile subject (or, you know, a cat). They’re puncture-, scratch-, and water-resistant to boot.
Notice we said “resistant.” They won’t stop a determined dog from getting through, and your bones are still vulnerable to getting crunched.
The PF-HG2s have raised silicone nubbins that remove some loose hair, but not much. The good news is they offer quite a bit of traction on wet animals, so they come in handy at bath time.
Overall, the PetFusion PF-HG2s are actually very handy — but they’re not great grooming mitts. They may score very highly in a ranking of other dog accessories, but unfortunately for them, this list is only concerned with their grooming capabilities.
- Scratch- and puncture-resistant
- Good for handling wet animals
- Only remove surface hair
- Provide little protection against chomps
- Only available in two sizes
9. CheerMaker Pet Grooming Glove
The actual grooming mitt on this option from CheerMaker is attached to a pair of regular gloves, rather than integrated into them. This makes them extremely stiff and robs you of much of your dexterity, while also making them more likely to fall apart.
They do have an abundance of rubber tips, though, so they can capture quite a bit of hair. Of course, since they’re so bulky, the problem is reaching the hair in the first place, especially in tight spaces.
There’s an awkward opening near the thumb that seems to offer little in the way of functionality while leaving more of your skin exposed to scratches and bites. The Velcro strap on the wrist keeps the gloves on your hands, but does little to stop them from moving side-to-side as you stroke your dog.
The CheerMakers could likely rise quite a few spots on this list if they made a few changes, as we like how many rubber tips they have and how much hair they can capture. As presently constructed, though, they’re too awkward and bulky to warrant much more than the #9 spot on these rankings.
- Lots of rubber tips
- Capture hair well
- Large and bulky
- Limit dexterity
- Perform poorly in tight spaces
- Wiggle side-to-side while in use
- Awkward slit near thumb
10. Poppin Pets Pet Grooming Gloves
You get two separate mitts with this offering from Poppin Pets: a regular glove with five fingers and a larger mitt designed for whole-hand use. Both have raised nodules, but the mitt offers quite a few more (and it can be used on furniture, too).
It’s a neat idea, but it works better in theory than in practice. The mitt actually has too many tips, and there’s not enough room between them to capture much hair. This means it gets clogged fast, and you’ll likely find yourself pushing fur around rather than removing it. The lack of fingers also greatly limits the use of whichever hand it’s on.
The fingered glove has the opposite problem. There aren’t many nodules on it at all, so it misses a lot of hair. You’re supposed to use the two in conjunction, but that’s often not possible when you have a restless pooch in front of you.
Rather than trying to set themselves apart with two complimentary gloves, Poppin Pets would have been better off making a single glove that’s incredibly effective. Until they do, they’ll be unable to rise any higher on this list.
- Can remove hair from furniture
- Mitt gets clogged easily
- Not many tips on glove
- Difficult to use properly
- Using both robs you of dexterity
- Misses a lot of fur
Summary: Picking the Best Dog Grooming Gloves
The DELOMO 002 is our favorite grooming glove, as its soft rubber tips do an excellent job of rounding up and removing loose fur. Dogs seem to appreciate it as well, and it should make the grooming process less stressful for all involved.
For a cheaper model that’s nearly as good, try the Pet Thunder GBG001-1. It covers quite a bit of territory in a single stroke, helping to make grooming more efficient. It performs especially well on wet fur, so it’s a great choice for bath time.
Finding a good grooming glove can make living with your dog much more tolerable, as it will help you keep him clean and shiny without causing him to hate the brushing process. We hope the above reviews have made it easier for you to make an informed decision, and that you find an option you and your pet will both enjoy.
