  • The 8 Best Shark Vacuum for Pet Hair

    1. Shark NV752 Rotator Powered TruePet Upright Vacuum – Best Overall

    1Shark

It’s certainly not cheap, but it’s hard to beat the quality and features of the Shark NV752 Rotator Powered TruePet Upright Vacuum. This would be a great vacuum on its own, but when you’re looking for a pet-specific vacuum, it becomes practically unbeatable.

To start, it’s built with multiple pet-specific tools. For instance, the pet multi-tool and pet power brush that make it easy to get pet hair off of your furniture and other items, or the crevice tool that helps you suck the hair from hard to reach areas where it tends to accumulate. To help reach those areas, you can remove the powered lift-away canister and get extra reach for whatever needs vacuuming.

To keep in the allergens, this vacuum is equipped with a HEPA filter and an anti-allergen complete seal. Plus, its extra-large capacity means you can vacuum the whole home without needing to empty it. And handy little features like fingertip controls and LED lights just sweeten the deal and add to the overall convenience of this vacuum.

    Pros
    • Includes multiple pet-specific tools
    • Equipped with HEPA filter
    • XL capacity
    • Powered lift-away canister detaches for hard to reach areas
    Cons
    • Not one of the more affordable options

    2. Shark Pet-Perfect II Cordless Bagless Hand Vacuum – Best Value

2Shark Pet-Perfect II Cordless Bagless Hand Vacuum

There are many Shark vacuums to choose from unless you’re shopping on a budget. These are usually pretty pricey vacuums, but the Pet-Perfect II Cordless Bagless Hand Vacuum is much more affordable than most of the other models. Don’t let that fool you though, it’s still a great performer!

This vacuum brings you cordless convenience in a powerful little package. It’s perfect for cleaning up the pet hair from cars, RVs, furniture, and anywhere else, though its small size means it’s probably not the best choice for vacuuming the whole home.

We were impressed with the powerful suction this little vacuum provides. This made it easy to suck up all the hair that was usually hard to remove from areas like corners and under furniture. But the battery life isn’t nearly as impressive. Still, we rarely needed it for more than a few minutes at a time, so the poor battery life didn’t turn out to be much of an issue. In the end, we think the Pet-Perfect II is the best Shark vacuum for pet hair for the money.

    Pros
    • One of the most affordable options
    • Cordless convenience with a rechargeable battery
    • Impressive suction power
    Cons
    • Doesn’t have a great battery life

    3. Shark AZ1002 APEX Upright Vacuum – Premium Choice

3Shark APEX Upright Vacuum with DuoClean

If you’re looking for the ultimate in pet-hair-removing vacuums and you don’t mind paying a premium for it, then say hello to the Shark AZ1002 APEX Upright Vacuum. It’s got a hefty price tag, but it’s also loaded with great features to save you time and keep your home looking fresh and clean.

To start, it’s equipped with a dual brush-roll system for deep cleaning. Taking it a step further is the self-cleaning brush roll that allows for non-stop hair removal and ensures that your brushes don’t get tangled when sucking up all that pet hair.

But this vacuum isn’t finished working when you suck up the mess. It keeps all that sealed in with an advanced anti-allergen seal and HEPA filter, ensuring that you won’t have any extra dust or allergens floating around once you vacuum. Though it’s pretty pricey, we think the feature set of the Shark AZ1002 warrants the high price tag when you’re looking for a premium pet-hair vacuum.

    Pros
    • Dual brush-roll system for deep cleaning
    • Self-cleaning brush-roll for non-stop hair removal
    • Equipped with HEPA filter and advanced anti-allergen seal
    Cons
    • It’s pretty expensive

    4. Shark ZU62 Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro Upright Vacuum

    4Shark Navigator Zero-M Self-Cleaning Brushroll Pet Pro

It might not be the cheapest Shark vacuum we tested, but the Shark Navigator ZU62 Zero-M Pet Pro Upright Vacuum brings the Shark power and quality to a more affordable price point. This one is a full-size upright vacuum that’s equipped with some incredibly useful features.

One of our favorites is the self-cleaning brush roll that removes hair continuously. Another great feature is the extra-large dust cup with a large enough capacity for vacuuming the whole house in one shot. While you’re at it, the anti-allergen seal and HEPA filter will ensure that the dust, dirt, and dander you trap will stay in the vacuum where it belongs.

On the downside, we did notice a few missing features that detract from the convenience of this model. At the same time, these drawbacks are also likely what keeps the price of this vacuum affordable. First, the control buttons are located on the tank; much less convenient than if they were located on the handle. We also noticed that there’s no light on this vacuum, so cleaning up in low-light areas is quite difficult. But for the affordable price, we’re willing to swap out these features.

    Pros
    • More affordable than many other shark models
    • Self-cleaning brush-roll
    • Extra-large dust cup capacity for whole-house cleaning
    Cons
    • Buttons are inconveniently located on the tank instead of handle
    • No light to help see what you’re vacuuming

    5. Shark ZS362 APEX DuoClean Stick Vacuum

5Shark APEX DuoClean with Zero-M No Hair Wrap (ZS362) Stick Vacuum

Stick vacuums have been growing in popularity recently. The Shark ZS362 APEX DuoClean Stick Vacuum capitalizes on this popularity, though it missed the mark in a few significant ways. That said, it’s a great machine overall that’s packed with some great features.

First, it’s very lightweight and ultra-powerful. It excels at picking up pet hair. Plus, the advanced swivel steering improves its maneuverability while the DuoClean dual brush-roll system provides deep cleaning everywhere.

But this stick vacuum is top-heavy and won’t stand on its own. You can’t lean it against a wall and expect it to stay. Worse, the top-heavy design makes it awkward to handle, despite the advanced steering head. We also weren’t thrilled with all the hot air that blows at you from the rear of the handle while the vacuum runs. In the end, we loved the concept of this vacuum but weren’t impressed with the final product.

    Pros
    • Lightweight corded stick design
    • Duo clean dual brush-roll system
    • Ultra-powerful pet hair pickup
    • Advanced swivel steering for improved maneuverability
    Cons
    • Awkward handling with all the weight at the handle
    • Vacuum won’t stand on its own
    • Blows hot air out of the handle near where you hold

    6. Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus Cordless Handheld Vacuum

6Shark CH951 UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus Cordless Handheld Vacuum

Most of the Shark upright vacuums are priced at a premium, but this handheld vacuum is much more affordable. The Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus Cordless Handheld Vacuum is a smaller choice that’s great for spot cleanups, cars, RVs, and other small areas, but is too small for cleaning up the whole house.

Where this vacuum excels is its portability. It’s cordless with a rechargeable battery offering the ultimate in convenience. Plus, it’s extremely lightweight at just 2.8 pounds. You also get some useful attachments such as the pet brush which makes it easy to clean pet hair off of furniture.

But the battery is sorely lacking on this model. It takes forever to charge but only lasts for a few minutes once you try to use it. This is pretty frustrating since it limits you to about 10-15 minutes of useful battery life. If the battery life were improved, this vacuum might earn a higher position on our list because we do like the convenience it provides and the affordable price.

    Pros
    • Includes detachable pet brush
    • Very lightweight
    • Cordless convenience
    Cons
    • Small size is only good for spot cleanups or vehicles
    • The battery charges very slowly
    • Poor battery life

    7. Shark Rocket DeluxePro Upright Corded Stick Vacuum

7Shark Rocket DeluxePro Ultra-Light Upright Corded Stick Vacuum

With a 2-in-1 design that’s great for cleaning for carpets and floors, the Shark Rocket DeluxePro Upright Corded Stick Vacuum makes it easy to clean the whole house. The included pet multitool and motorized floor nozzle help you take things even further, sucking up pet hair with ease and ensuring even the crevices and cracks are free of pet hair.

But we also noticed that this vacuum is much louder than other Shark vacuums. It’s so loud that it actually became a nuisance. Despite all the noise, it’s not nearly as powerful as other Shark models we tested, offering noticeably less suction. And with all the weight of this stick vacuum located around the handle, it became quite difficult to maneuver. In the end, we weren’t impressed, which is why we recommend overlooking this model in favor of one that offers better performance.

    Pros
    • 2-in-1 design is great for carpets and floors
    • Includes pet multitool and motorized floor nozzle
    Cons
    • Much louder than other Shark vacuums
    • Not as powerful as some of the other models
    • Awkward design is hard to control and steer

    8. Shark ZS351 Rocket Corded Ultra-Light Vacuum

    8Shark ZS351 Rocket Corded Ultra-Light Vacuum

The ZS351 Rocket Corded Ultra-Light Vacuum from Shark seemed like a winner at first glance. We liked that it can transform from a handheld to a full-length vacuum, making it more useful and convenient than most standard upright vacuums. Plus, it’s equipped with the Zero-M self-cleaning brush-rolls. This means no more removing hair that’s tangled around the brushes since they automatically clean themselves and won’t bind up in the first place.

Even though this vacuum is called ultra-light, we didn’t think it was. In fact, it was noticeably heavier than other Shark stick vacuums we tested. Worse, it offers poor maneuverability that makes it difficult to steer in tight areas. Plus, the motor whines loudly whenever this vacuum is in use, which got annoying rather quickly. It’s in the last position of our list for a reason; we don’t recommend this vacuum.

    Pros
    • Transforms from full-length to handheld
    • Zero-M design means no more removing hair
    Cons
    • Heavier than similar Shark stick vacuums
    • Poor maneuverability
    • Very loud, whiny motor
